Tyler & Janelle || Hidden Vineyard

August 6, 2018

"No way!" she said. "That's the exact date of our 10 year anniversary!" "Well then it's meant to be!" I replied. She let me know she would ask her husband and get back to me. I said ok and walked away with a big smile knowing I had just found my perfect couple.

This shoot started way back in May. You see, back in May I reached out to multiple vendors trying to grow my business community. Through this, I met Susan of The Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn and we hit it off. She asked if I would like to do a styled shoot at her barn and without showing my inward leaps of joy, I calmly said yes. As I drove back home, my heart was filling with excitement while my mind was flooding with a long list of to-do's I would need to accomplish in order to put this thing together. A little nervous, I did research on how to put a styled shoot together, since this was going to be my first. Once I gained the courage to start reaching out to vendors, the ball kept rolling and the Lord provided one awesome vendor after the other and everything fell into place.

This styled shoot is so special to my heart for many reasons, the first being the couple in the photo above. Tyler and Janelle are sweet friends to my husband and me. They've blessed us with words of wisdom and great encouragement throughout our marriage. They are always filled with joy and love and I was so honored when they said yes to be my models. I knew they would fill the roles perfectly; and as you can see, I wasn't wrong. ;) The second reason this is special is because of what Janelle told me when they said yes. You guessed it! The day of the styled shoot was their 10 year anniversary! What better way to celebrate that than to get new professional pictures taken! This shoot wasn't just exciting for Janelle though; it was a gift.

You see, ten years ago when Tyler and Janelle said "I Do", they walked away from the wedding day without a single photo of the both of them looking at the camera. So when I asked them to model for me, she was so excited for the opportunity to do just that! The last reason this shoot is so dear to my heart is because Janelle is wearing my wedding dress. Seeing her wear my dress brought back many good memories from the day I said "I Do" almost three years ago and really made me thankful for where Joe and I are today. It also meant so much to me because I love my dress. If there was an event where we could get dressed up in our wedding dresses and go to a ball for a night, I would be all over that! Recently I took out my dress and felt so sad that I was only going to wear it once and it would sit in a closet all my life. But, the first plan for a dress fell through and after racking my brain, I realized this would be a great opportunity to use it! And I'm so happy I did.

This shoot turned out great and I couldn't have done it without all the awesome vendors that were a part of it! So please, before you "ooohhh" and "aahhh" over these photos, take a moment and check these ladies out and give them some love!

Even though this was a styled shoot, I still wanted to do a first look to make it feel more realistic. So I really built up the suspense here. I made Tyler look at a tree for a good five minutes as I went and got the bride, positioned her and became ready. He was definitely ready to turn around.

First looks are always the best. Because even after 10 years, they still get nervous to see each other all dressed up and still give giddy smiles when they turn around.

I love these two photos together because they were literally split seconds apart. I love it when couples show their true personality during shoots. It makes it so much more fun.
