On Friday I had the privilege of meeting up with Justin and Hannah at DeFries Garden to celebrate their first pregnancy. This fall they will be welcoming a little girl into the world and they are so excited! This photoshoot was special to me from the beginning. I'd never heard of DeFries Garden and couldn't really find many good pictures online, so I was hoping it would fit my expectations. And boy did it! When I walked into this beautiful park I was stunned. It's a small place back in the woods where most people wouldn't see it. The main garden is a circular calendar filled with flowers and a cute little pond in the middle. There are old school buildings, walking trails, a green house, and a vegetable garden as well. For those of you who have seen the movie, I felt like I was in my own Secret Garden. I know where I will be returning when I want a quiet spot to read.
One of the things I enjoy doing in a photoshoot is getting to know my clients a little better. As we were walking around the garden in-between poses, I asked Hannah, "what is one thing you are looking forward to becoming a mom?" She smiled and looked at me and said, "well, when Esther gets older, I'd like to teach her ballet." How cute! Hannah practiced ballet as a child and is curious to see if it will become little Esther's passion as well. When I asked Justin this question (of course switching it to dad) he said, "I look forward to teacher her all the "nerdy" things I enjoy like chess and math." Well, it sounds to me like she will be a smart little girl! I had such a fun time with the Bowers and am so thankful they chose me to be a part of this special moment with them. I look forward to seeing the many pictures of little Esther's arrival soon!
